NEW WORLD, 즉 신세계는 사전적 의미로 아직 경험해보지 못했거나 처음 경험해보는 새로운 세계라는 뜻이다. 기존현실의 이상, 즉 판타지적 유토피아를 의미하기도 하지만 새로운 땅, 새로운 대륙이라는 뜻을 가지기도 한다. 이번 전시에서 신세계는 이 두 가지 의미를 가지고 있는데, 아카데미에 참가한 예술인들은 기존의 작업방식에서 벗어나 새로운 기술과 개념과 감각을 익히고 자신의 예술적 세계관을 확장하여 구축할 수 있는 감각적 신세계를 발견할 수 있는 기회를 얻었다. 동시에 이번 아카데미를 통해 창작자로서 한층 더욱 단단하게 성장하여 한명의 어엿한 작가가 될 수 있는 ‘신세계’ 로 나아가는 문 앞에 서게 되었다. 문 밖의 신세계는 설레지만 동시에 두려울 수 있다. 자신의 세계관을 뚜렷이 세우고 자신의 작업에 책임을 질 수 있는 무게감도 함께 짊어지게 된다. 이번 아카데미를 수료하는 예술인들은 감각과 태도, 신세계의 경계에 서있다. 보이지 않는 선이지만 구에서 신으로 넘어가는 이 시점에서 그들이 자신의 세계를 당당히 구축하고 확장하여 멋진 신세계, 황홀한 NEW WORLD로 발을 뻗길 바란다. 이번 전시는 일본의 발달장애예술기관 오타가와 학원과 휴런폰의 소속작가들의 작품도 함께 선보인다.

NEW WORLD, or Shinsegae in Korean, literally means a new world that has either never been experienced before or is being encountered for the first time. While it can signify a fantastical utopia or ideal within an existing reality, it can also refer to new land or a new continent. In this exhibition, NEW WORLD carries both meanings. The participating artists of the academy have been given the opportunity to break free from their existing methods of creation and explore new technologies, concepts, and sensibilities. Through this process, they have discovered a sensory "new world" that allows them to expand and build upon their unique artistic visions. At the same time, they now stand at the threshold of a “new world” as fully-fledged artists—ready to grow stronger in their creative identity. The world beyond that threshold is both thrilling and daunting. With it comes the excitement of new possibilities, but also the weight of responsibility—of having a clear worldview and being accountable for one's own artistic work. The artists completing this academy now stand at the boundary between perception and posture, on the edge of a new world. It may be an invisible line, but as they move from the old to the new, we hope they step boldly into their magnificent, dazzling NEW WORLD. This exhibition also features works by artists from Japanese organizations for developmental disability arts, including Otakawa Gakuen and Huronphon.
