On April 18, HEAD Lab held a workshop for facilitators of disability arts education. Approximately 60 participants, including instructors and assistant instructors in the field, attended the workshop, sharing their on-site experiences and discussing future directions together.

During the special lecture, artist Dohee Kim presented under the theme “Why Do You Keep Drawing Only This? – Repetition and the Orbital Universe of Identity.” Drawing on years of experience working with creators with developmental disabilities, she offered in-depth insights into the meaning of repetition and identity as they emerge in the creative process.

In the workshop session that followed, Professor Sunah Kim, Director of HEAD Lab, spoke on the theme of “co-creation.” She emphasized that for artists with developmental disabilities to communicate with the world and grow as independent artists, a wide range of support beyond individual talent is essential. In particular, she highlighted the importance of supportive caregivers who sustain artistic practice, educational environments that expand learning opportunities, and facilitators who connect these elements.
